Women Veterans Day

The Women’s Caucus is a bipartisan organization of 77 women legislators and eight male associate members serving in the Maryland General Assembly. Our mission is to help women and their families through legislation and to encourage women’s participation in government. The Caucus is a leader in the Legislature on issues including gender-based violence, child care, pregnant and parenting students, and human trafficking. Founded in 1972, the Maryland Women’s Caucus is the oldest of its kind in the nation.

Women Veterans Day is an opportunity for Legislators to hear first-hand from women veterans about the unique challenges they face and to explore legislative solutions.  It is also a celebration of women veterans in Maryland including tributes to women rail blazers and outstanding advocates who have made significant contributions to women veterans of Maryland. The event includes networking, information on benefits, and interactive activities.  This year will include a tribute to Maryland's first woman veteran - Harriet Tubman including an exclusive tour of the  Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Historic Park following the event.  To provide ample room for social distancing, our tour is scheduled for a day when the museum is closed to the public.

This year will be the Caucus' third Women Veterans Day and our first virtual event.

This year we have also arranged for an exclusive in-person tour of the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad. The venue is closed to the public and will only be available for our participants.
